December! Capitalism on steroids! It’s time to get out there in the marketplace and corral all the best presents for your loved ones, lest they start to suspect you don’t love them as much as you should. 

But you know what else December is? It’s the opposite of that. It’s time for reflection, introspection, culture, meaning. That’s the reason for the season, they say.

It made us think: Museums are places of culture. They’re supposed to be places we go to seek insights about ourselves, to be wowed and amazed at the human story. And Humboldt has a ton of them.

Usually when we ask questions like this we ask you what the best something is. Note that we’re not doing that this time. We want to your favorite Humboldt County museum to visit, regardless of whether or not it is the “best.” Go with your gut.

And then, in between in between bouts of shopping, maybe take yourself to one or more of the places below for a detox.
