Picture this scenario.
You know someone, or you know of someone, who you think is a stand-up person. This person works very hard and does lots of things for their community, and you are very kindly disposed toward them. They are one of the good ones.
Then you find out that this person has done a dumb thing. A wrong thing. Not a gravely illegal or irretrievably immoral thing — just a dumb, wrong thing that they shouldn’t have done.
People are mad at them for the dumb, wrong thing they did on this one occasion, and there seems to be talk that perhaps this person should face some consequences.
