It is that time of the year again!

There’s some other stuff that usually happens in Humboldt County on Memorial Day Weekend. Something about a tour of local sculptures? Something like that. Sounds boring.

For most of us, it’s all about that Rutabaga life!

The annual Rutabaga Ball will be held at the Eureka Theater tomorrow night — $20, doors at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m. — and that’s when we will crown this year’s Rutabaga Queen!

Why is this important? Well, first of all: Shut up. But second of all: Check your history. Go to this page and scroll down a bit look at the list of some past Queens. Lot of movers and shakers there. Who will join them?

Below, as best we can tell, are the current contestants, followed by the Rutabaga Queen Facebook account’s post introducing them. Apologies for the people who don’t have Facebook, but Rutabaga Royalty seem to conduct business with Zuckerberg exclusively.

Now, it’s our understanding that pretty much anyone can throw their hat and garters into the ring right up until the last minute, so don’t consider this list definitive. But here are the contestants as best we can tell! Study them deeply, then vote!
