Deer. Those skittish, quasi-cute forest ballerinas that are constantly begging you to pulverize them with your motorized vehicle. They are dumb! And Humboldt is full of ‘em — enough so, that many in our community regularly harvest their flesh for consumption.
But how prevalent is this practice? On a recent trip to Grocery Outlet, your Lost Coast Outpost was somewhat surprised to discover venison in their frozen meat section. Maybe deer monchin’ is more common than we might have assumed? Also, maybe we need to get out more.
