Doubtless she was referring to the closure of the safety corridor’s medians, those spots where motorists could decide to run the risk of getting broadsided by traffic that usually exceeded the 50-miles-an-hour speed limit. Caltrans has decided they are too dangerous to stay open. The Indianola Underpass is far safer, it says, and closing the medians will encourage people to use it, thus sparing many lives.
But we’ll never forget them. Which one will you miss the most?
