POLL! When Will Humboldt County Next Vote For a Republican for Any State or Federal Office?
Today the Outpost listed the candidates for state senate and assembly on the upcoming ballot, and — surprise, surprise! — it looks like there will be exactly one serious candidate on each ballot. The Republican Party, as always, will be throwing up token opposition.
Things are a little bit more up-in-the-air in Rep. Jared Huffman’s reelection campaign to Congress, in part because we’ve added a whole bunch of right-leaning citizens into the mix, and in part because a wealthy MAHA candidate has entered the race. Still: You gotta have Huff as the heavy favorite.
It didn’t used to be this way. Humboldt County has a strong and proud Republican history. Ol’ Don Clausen was still getting elected as recently as, uh, 40-odd years ago! But when’s the last time Humboldt has actually voted Republican in any race? Did Humboldt vote for Frank Riggs in 1990? We don’t remember! Neither does the Internet!
What do you think? When will the GOP break its losing streak in Humboldt County?
783 votes cast.
