RANKED CHOICE POLL! Who Would You Like to Be Your Next Representative in the California Assembly?
Even if you’re not a hardcore political junkie (or a frequent Outpost reader), you’re probably aware that we’re in the thick of a contested battle for California’s Second Assembly District, of which Humboldt is a part. Even leaving aside the mailers, anyone who watches any video content at all on any platform up here is getting bombarded with ads for one or likely more than one of the candidates.
Five of the six remaining candidates — Frankie Myers, Rusty Hicks, Ariel Kelley, Chris Rogers and Ted Williams — are registered Democrats. Michael Greer is a registered Republican.
Kelley and Rogers are from Sonoma County; Williams is from Mendocino County; Greer is from Del Norte County; Myers and (more recently) Hicks are from Humboldt County.
Kelley is the mayor of Healdsburg. Rogers is a Sonoma County Supervisor. Williams is a Mendocino County Supervisor. Greer is a Del Norte school board member. Myers is vice-chair of the Yurok Tribe. Hicks is the chair of the California Democratic Party.

What, you need to know more than that? You can read more about the candidates on the League of Women Voters’ vote411.org site, which is sadly designed in such a way as to make it impossible to link directly to this race, so you gotta go through a lot of rigamarole to get there. (But it’s worth it.) Check some links below the poll to find some of the Outpost’s previous coverage. And be aware that there’s a free candidate forum Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Blue Lake Casino’s Sapphire Palace.
Let’s take the pre-forum temperature! Drag and drop the candidates into your preferred order then click the “submit” button so that we, the LoCO faithful, might provisionally consense on a candidate.
932 votes cast.
