Please Shop Local. That Includes Your Advertising Dollars.

Here at Lost Coast Communications, we have always advocated for shopping local. It helps our economy, and enriches the community in which we live. Local businesses are the lifeblood of a strong community, providing jobs and helping to support our nonprofit causes with their charitable giving.

Humboldt County is blessed to have several strong media outlets which sustain themselves through advertising sales, including the North Coast Journal, the Mad River Union, kymkemp.com, and Eureka Radio, as well as ourselves. Over the last twenty years, we have seem many local advertisers move much of their advertising to large tech firms such as Google and Facebook. This weakens our local media, which turns leads to less news reporting and information about local events.

We ask that if you have your plans to advertise this holiday season, please focus on supporting our local media brethren. It works, it helps all of us, and we really don’t think Mr. Zuckerberg needs the money.
