INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…Portions of central California and northwest California, including the following counties, in central California, Lake. In northwest California, Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity.
* WHEN…Until 1245 AM PST Saturday.
* IMPACTS…Small streams and creeks will rise sharply this afternoon and evening. Localized flooding will occur as creeks exceed their channel and culvert capacities. Culverts blocked by debris may also lead to enhanced local flooding. Rock and mudslides may occur above roads in steep areas during heaviest rainfall intensities.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 1213 PM PST, The public reported heavy rain in the advisory area causing urban and small stream flooding. - Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Ukiah, Fort Bragg, Willits, Point Arena, Covelo, Laytonville, Ukiah Municipal Airport, Albion, Hayfork, Willow Creek, Potter Valley, Leggett, Rockport, Witter Springs, Ruth, Philo, Boonville, Forest Glen, Hopland and Peanut. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
