INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following counties, southern and central Humboldt, northern Mendocino and southern Trinity.

* WHEN…Until 645 AM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. Culverts blocked by debris may also lead to enhanced local flooding. Rock and mudslides have been reported.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 417 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Arcata, Garberville, Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, Richardson Grove State Park, Hayfork, Honeydew, Shelter Cove, Willow Creek, Covelo, Laytonville, Weaverville, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Alderpoint, Dinsmore, Ruth, Bridgeville, Forest Glen, Myers Flat and Redway. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
