INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following counties, Del Norte and Humboldt.

* WHEN…Until 1030 PM PDT Monday.

* IMPACTS…Small streams and creeks will rise sharply this afternoon. Localized flooding will occur as creeks exceed their channel and culvert capacities. Culverts blocked by debris may also lead to enhanced local flooding. Rock and mudslides may occur above roads in steep areas during heaviest rainfall intensities.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 1133 AM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Crescent City, Klamath, Jedediah Smith State Park, Orick, Jack McNamera Field, Trinidad, Gasquet, Bertsch-Oceanview, Crescent City North, Smith River, Westhaven-Moonstone, McKinleyville, Klamath Glen, Requa and Fort Dick. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
