INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following county, Humboldt.

* WHEN…Until 945 PM PDT.

* IMPACTS…Small streams and creeks will rise sharply late this afternoon in the Mattole River Basin, Bear Creek Basin, and numerous other small basins near the coast. Ponding water will occur in low lying areas during periods of highest rainfall. The over topping of creeks may cause localized flooding. Culverts blocked by debris may also lead to localized flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 521 PM PDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Honeydew, Shelter Cove, Petrolia, Whitehorn, Ettersburg and Briceland. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
