INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following county, Humboldt.
* WHEN…Until 1030 PM PDT.
* IMPACTS…Small streams and creeks remains elevated through this evening in the Mattole River Basin, Bear Creek Basin, and numerous other small basins near the coast. Ponding water will occur in low lying areas during periods of highest rainfall. The over topping of creeks may cause localized flooding. Culverts blocked by debris may also lead to localized flooding.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 709 PM PDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. This is causing small stream flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Honeydew, Shelter Cove, Petrolia, Whitehorn, Ettersburg and Briceland. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
