INSTRUCTIONS

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Provide adequate shelter for outdoor pets or consider bringing them indoors.

Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings are issued during the local growing season as defined by climatology and local agriculture experts. Once the growing season has ended these statements will no longer be issued until the spring.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30. For the High Wind Warning, southeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.

* WHERE…Northern Humboldt Coast County. Strongest winds on the exposed coastal headlands.

* WHEN…For the Freeze Warning, until 9 AM PDT this morning. For the High Wind Warning, from 3 PM this afternoon to 1 AM PDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
