INSTRUCTIONS

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

DESCRIPTION

The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon today to 9 PM PDT this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA…Fire weather zone 203.Fire weather zone 204.Fire weather zone 211.Fire weather zone 212.Fire weather zone 283.

* WIND…Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with local gusts to 25 mph in favored areas and over higher terrain this afternoon.

* HUMIDITY…Around 15 percent.

* THUNDERSTORMS…Scattered dry thunderstorms are expected this afternoon, mostly over high terrain. Similar to the last several days, thunder activity will most likely start off over the Sacramento valley foothills and move northwest towards the coast through the afternoon.

* OUTFLOW WINDS…Erratic guts up to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS…Increased risk of new starts alongside rapid spread and extreme fire behavior. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
