A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

DESCRIPTION

* AFFECTED AREA…Fire weather zones 203, 204, 211, 212, and 283.

* WIND…Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with local gusts to 25 mph over higher, exposed terrain and wind-oriented valleys this afternoon.

* HUMIDITY…Around 15 percent.

* THUNDERSTORMS…Scattered dry thunderstorms are expected this afternoon, mostly over high terrain. Similar to the last several days, thunder activity will most likely start off over the Sacramento valley foothills and move northwest towards the coast through the afternoon and evening hours.

* OUTFLOW WINDS…Erratic gusts up to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS…Increased risk of new starts alongside rapid spread and extreme fire behavior. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
