INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following county, Humboldt.

* WHEN…Until 130 AM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas will result in water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Small rock and mud slides are possible in areas of steep terrain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 959 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Flooding has been reported along Glendale Rd. near Blue Lake and Old Arcata Rd. near Bayside. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Willow Creek, Hoopa, Maple Creek, McKinleyville, Blue Lake, Kneeland, Fieldbrook, Freshwater, Myrtletown, Arcata Arpt, Cutten, Pine Hills, Samoa, Bayview, Fairhaven and Humboldt Hill. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
