INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…The Humboldt Bay area.
* WHEN…Until 200 PM PST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 935 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. This is causing urban and small stream flooding. Rapid river rises have already caused minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.7 and 1.3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Carlotta, McKinleyville, Westhaven-Moonstone, Ferndale, Pine Hills, Cutten, Humboldt Hill, Bayview, Myrtletown, Fairhaven, Freshwater, Samoa, Fernbridge, Loleta, Rohnerville and Hydesville. - Flooding already reported along Jacoby Creek and Hookton Slough. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
