INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following counties, Humboldt and Trinity.

* WHEN…Until 915 PM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over roadways. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 608 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Willow Creek, Dinsmore, Bridgeville, Alderpoint, Blocksburg, Fort Seward and Zenia. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
