INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following county, Humboldt.

* WHEN…Until 1000 PM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 623 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Orick, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Trinidad, McKinleyville, Westhaven-Moonstone, Carlotta, Scotia, Ferndale, Blue Lake, Fieldbrook, Arcata Arpt, Myrtletown, Samoa, Freshwater, Cutten, Kneeland and Bayview. - This has flooded Jacoby Creek at Old Arcata road, Berta road on the Elk River and the off ramp on hwy 101 near Loleta - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
