* WHAT…A series of storms are forecast to impact the region this weekend into early next week. Period moderate to locally rainfall will bring the potential for rapid rises on rivers, streams and creeks across the region. The first storm system will bring 1 to 2 inches of rain from tonight through Saturday night. Up to 3 inches are forecast for southwest Humboldt County. The second storm system will be bring additional rainfall with highest amounts focused more over southwest Humboldt, Mendocnino and Lake counties. Total rainfall amounts for this system is forecast to range from 1 to 4 inches of rain from Sunday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. Up to 5 inches are forecast for southwester Humboldt.

* WHERE…The first storm, for the entire forecast area. The second storm, focused on southwester Humboldt, Mendocino and Lake counties.

* WHEN…Tonight through Tuesday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The heavy rainfall will lead to rapid rises on river, streams, and creeks. Ponding of water is likely for low- lying or poorly drained areas. The Russian River is around 50 percent chance of exceeding flood stage this weekend through Monday.
