Occasional cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
DESCRIPTION
At 418 AM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 10 miles west of Trinidad to 9 miles northwest of Shelter Cove. Movement was east at 20 mph.
HAZARD…Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.
Locations impacted include… Eureka, Arcata, Shelter Cove, Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, Garberville, Honeydew, Fortuna, Rio Dell, McKinleyville, Maple Creek, Carlotta, Westhaven-Moonstone, Bridgeville, Scotia, Pepperwood, Petrolia, Myers Flat, Redway, Weott, and Richardson Grove.
