You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

DESCRIPTION

An atmospheric river is forecast to move over NWRN CA Tuesday night through the weekend. Steady moderate to heavy rain is expected the rest of this week, with most areas seeing 2 to 5 inches of rain every 24 hrs during this period, with higher amounts expected in the mountains on SW facing slopes. Initially, localized flooding is possible in urban areas and small creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. More extensive flooding, including flooding of main stem rivers, is possible later this week as rain continues.

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the Northern Humboldt Coast, Northern Humboldt Interior, Southern Humboldt Interior and Southwestern Humboldt.

* WHEN…From late tonight through late Thursday night.

* IMPACTS…There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - 2 to 6 inches of rain is expected to fall Tuesday night and Wednesday, with an additional 2 to 4 inches possible Thursday. Over 12 inches of rain possible in the King Range by Thursday, with additional rain expected Friday and Saturday.
