INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following counties, southern Humboldt and central Mendocino.

* WHEN…Until 730 PM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Overflowing poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 517 PM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding and the situation may evolve to a greater flood threat later today. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Willits, Laytonville, Richardson Grove State Park, Garberville, Shelter Cove, Honeydew, Leggett, Rockport, Richardson Grove, Whitehorn, Redway, Alderpoint, Myers Flat, Weott, Potter Valley, Philo, Boonville, Petrolia, Branscomb and Piercy. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
