INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

Stay tuned to further developments by listening to your local radio, television, or NOAA Weather Radio for further information.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

…The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in California…

Russian River near Hopland affecting Mendocino County.

Navarro River at Navarro affecting Mendocino County.

Mad River near Arcata affecting Humboldt County.

Eel River at Fernbridge affecting Humboldt County.

Van Duzen River Near Bridgeville affecting Humboldt County.

For the Russian River…including Hopland…Minor flooding is forecast. For the Navarro River…including Navarro…Minor flooding is forecast. For the Mad River…including Arcata…Minor flooding is forecast. For the Eel River…including Fernbridge, Scotia, Bridgeville, Fort Seward, Miranda…Major flooding is forecast.

* WHAT…Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE…Mad River near Arcata.

* WHEN…From this morning to this evening.

* IMPACTS…At 23.0 feet, Significant flooding of portions of Mad River Beach Road and adjacent farmlands is likely. May cause water to flow across roads to Tyee City. High tides and strong, onshore winds will aggravate flood impacts.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 1:00 AM PST Friday the stage was 16.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 22.0 feet. - Forecast…The river will rise above flood stage this morning to 22.6 feet late this morning. It will then fall below flood stage this afternoon to 14.3 feet tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 22.0 feet. - Flood History…This crest compares to a previous crest of 22.6 feet on 01/12/1959. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
