INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following counties, south central Del Norte and northeastern Humboldt.
* WHEN…Until 115 AM PST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 720 PM PST, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Hoopa, Willow Creek, Orick, Orleans, Klamath, Trinidad, Weitchpec, Westhaven-Moonstone, McKinleyville, Maple Creek, Blue Lake, Fieldbrook, Arcata Arpt, Kneeland, Freshwater, Myrtletown, Samoa and Klamath Glen. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
