INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following county, southern Humboldt.
* WHEN…Until 430 AM PST Saturday.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 827 PM PST, satellite estimates indicate heavy rain in the advisory area. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, Honeydew, Garberville, Shelter Cove, Richardson Grove State Park, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Weott, Pepperwood, Myers Flat, Bridgeville, Carlotta, Scotia, Redway, Petrolia, Whitehorn, Dinsmore, Richardson Grove and Alderpoint. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
