INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Portions of central and northwest California, including the following counties, in central California, Lake. In northwest California, southern Humboldt and Mendocino.

* WHEN…Until 1130 AM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 828 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Overflowing poor drainage areas have already caused minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen in 24 hours. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area today. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Arcata, Ukiah, Willits, Lakeport, Covelo, Laytonville, Richardson Grove State Park, Garberville, Ukiah Municipal Airport, Upper Lake, Honeydew, Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, Willow Creek, Middletown, Clearlake, Leggett, Potter Valley, Alderpoint, Richardson Grove and Redway. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
