INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following county, northwestern Humboldt.
* WHEN…Until 300 AM PST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 859 PM PST, gauge reports indicated heavy rain and rainfall rates of 0.5 to 0.8 inches per hour. This is causing urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas have already caused minor flooding over roadways in the advisory area around Klamath. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. Heavy rainfall rates of 0.5 to 0.8 inches per hour have been recorded. This additional rain will result in additional flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Orick, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Trinidad, McKinleyville, Westhaven-Moonstone, Carlotta, Scotia, Ferndale, Blue Lake, Myrtletown, Samoa, Cutten, Bayview, Freshwater, Fairhaven, Pine Hills and Humboldt Hill. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
