INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following county, southwestern Humboldt.

* WHEN…Until 300 AM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 904 PM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Gauges have recorded rainfall rates of 0.5 to 0.8 inches per hour with this persistent, heavy rain band. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 1.8 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in additional flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Honeydew, Shelter Cove, Petrolia, Whitehorn, Ettersburg and Briceland. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
