INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following county, western Humboldt.
* WHEN…Until 945 AM PST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 739 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.5 inches are expected over the area in the next hour. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Honeydew, Orick, Shelter Cove, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Trinidad, Carlotta, Scotia, McKinleyville, Westhaven- Moonstone, Petrolia, Ferndale, Blue Lake, Pine Hills, Humboldt Hill, Cutten, Fernbridge and Bayview. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
