INSTRUCTIONS

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Secure outdoor objects.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…For the Wind Advisory, northeast winds 25 to 35 mph expected. Gusts up to 60 mph expected over ridges. For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 12 expected.

* WHERE…Trinity County, Del Norte Interior, Northern Humboldt Interior, Northeastern Mendocino Interior, and Northern Lake.

* WHEN…For the Wind Advisory, from 10 PM this evening to 10 AM PST Sunday. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from midnight tonight to 9 AM PST Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Wind gusts will be particularly strong along windward ridges and exposed coastal headlands. There is an increased risk of tree branches and other debris on roadways. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
