…INTERMITTENT PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW THROUGH THE WEEK…

.A prolonged atmospheric river event will continue through much of the week. Snow levels are currently above 3500 feet, but will rapidly drop below 2000 feet Monday through midweek as a cold front crosses the area. Snow levels will first drop along the North Coast and gradually spread south and inland. Overall snowfall will be inconsistent with breaks between distinct snow showers through Tuesday. There is potential for heavier low elevation snow later in the week.

* WHAT…Snow expected for elevations above 2000 feet. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 8 inches on high peaks. Highway pass elevations including much of highway 36 will most likely to see snow late Monday night into Tuesday morning with snowfall of 1 to 4 inches on roadways.

* WHERE…Southern Humboldt Interior and Southern Trinity.

* WHEN…From 4 AM Tuesday to 3 AM PST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. Chain restrictions may be implemented for high elevations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow levels will stay low through the week with potential for heavier snow Wednesday and Thursday.
