INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of northwest California, including the following counties, Del Norte and Humboldt.
* WHEN…Until 115 AM PST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 925 PM PST, Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.6 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.3 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Crescent City, Willow Creek, Hoopa, Orick, Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, Orleans, Klamath, Honeydew, Garberville, Jedediah Smith State Park, Shelter Cove, Richardson Grove State Park, Jack McNamera Field, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Trinidad, Maple Creek and McKinleyville. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
