INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…Northwestern Humboldt County in northwestern California including Humboldt Bay…
* Until 700 AM PST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 406 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.6 and 1.2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.4 to 0.8 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Orick, Fortuna, Trinidad, McKinleyville, Westhaven-Moonstone, Ferndale, Blue Lake, Samoa, Myrtletown, Arcata Arpt, Cutten, Bayview, Freshwater, Fieldbrook, Pine Hills, Humboldt Hill, Loleta and Fernbridge. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
