INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE…West Central Humboldt County in northwestern California…

* Until 1145 AM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 838 AM PST, Trained weather spotters reported flooding in the advisory area. This is causing small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville, Cutten, Myrtletown, Bayview, Pine Hills, Samoa, Freshwater and Humboldt Hill. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
