INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Northern Humboldt County in northwestern California… West Central Trinity County in northwestern California…

* Until 815 AM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 413 AM PST, Gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.8 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen with persistent heavy rainfall rates up to 0.5 inch per hour. - Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Hoopa, Willow Creek, Orick, Trinidad, Maple Creek, McKinleyville, Weitchpec, Westhaven-Moonstone, Salyer, Blue Lake, Fieldbrook, Kneeland, Arcata Arpt, Freshwater, Myrtletown, Cutten, Pine Hills and Bayview. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
