INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…South Central Del Norte County in northwestern California… Humboldt County in northwestern California… Northwestern Mendocino County in northwestern California… Western Trinity County in northwestern California…
* Until 1045 AM PST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 643 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, Willow Creek, Hoopa, Garberville, Honeydew, Hayfork, Richardson Grove State Park, Shelter Cove, Orleans, Orick, Klamath, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Trinidad, Dinsmore, Bridgeville, Maple Creek and Hyampom. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
