INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…Northern Humboldt County in northwestern California… West Central Trinity County in northwestern California…

* Until 215 PM PST Sunday.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River or stream flows are elevated. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 807 AM PST, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Arcata, Hoopa, Willow Creek, Orick, Trinidad, Maple Creek, McKinleyville, Weitchpec, Westhaven-Moonstone, Salyer, Blue Lake, Fieldbrook, Kneeland, Arcata Arpt, Freshwater, Myrtletown, Cutten, Pine Hills and Bayview. - Minor flooding reported around Tyee City on Mad River Road. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
