INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…Southwestern Humboldt County in northwestern California…

* Until 100 PM PST.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 907 AM PST, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 3 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Honeydew, Shelter Cove, Petrolia, Redway, Bull Creek, Ettersburg, Briceland and Capetown. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
