INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE…Southern Humboldt County in northwestern California…

* Until 1100 PM PST.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 654 PM PST, local law enforcement reported flooding in the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.1 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, Garberville, Richardson Grove State Park, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Bridgeville, Weott, Myers Flat, Pepperwood, Dinsmore, Carlotta, Scotia, Alderpoint, Richardson Grove, Ferndale, Shively, Miranda, Blocksburg, Fort Seward and Hydesville. - Hwy 211 near Ferndale is closed along with numerous county roads - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
