INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Urban areas and small streams flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…West Central Humboldt County in northwestern California…
* WHEN…Until 1100 AM PST.
* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 752 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Eureka, Humboldt Hill, Pine Hills, Bayview, Cutten, Myrtletown, Elk River Rd and Tompkins Hill Rd. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
