INSTRUCTIONS
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
DESCRIPTION
* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE…Southwestern Humboldt County in northwestern California…
* WHEN…Until 1000 PM PST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. River or stream flows are elevated. There will be an increased risk of rock and land slides along roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 750 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Rapid river rises will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include… Honeydew, Shelter Cove, Petrolia, Whitehorn, Ettersburg and Briceland. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
