Nearly 2/3’s of all California marijuana seized in recent years grew on either state or national lands.  In response to the resulting environmental damage and to increasing violence, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Visalia, has written a bill requiring a 10 year minimum sentence for all those convicted of drug production (that includes making meth etc.) on public land.

Sheriff Tom Allman of Mendocino County has repeated voiced worries about a new violent element in the growing communities.  Authorities have blamed Mexican Cartels. Tuesday, a moving vehicle belonging to the Mendocino County Sheriff Deputy’s Office was shot at. The rear window shattered. No suspects were arrested however.

Just yesterday a suspect in a marijuana grow in Napa County was shot and killed by deputies as they attempted to eradicate a grow on what may have been public lands.
