Today the Lost Coast Outpost finally got around to reading David Downs’ excellent East Bay Express piece on the indoor/outdoor marijuana schism and the heroic work of the Tea House Collective, the SoHum grow-it-in-the-sun folks who are trying to win consumers back to natural, organic, sustainable pot.

You should read it too. Tea House is facing an uphill battle for sure, but for me the big eye-opener in Downs’ story was how far they’ve come. Tea House has an office in the Bay Area and salesmen representing its product. It’s throwing Tupperware-like house parties for Bay Area smokers. It’s starting to bring at least a few cannabis clubs on board.

The big question mark in the local economy right now is just how long we’ll be able to hold on to at least a piece of our biggest export crop. Tea House are just about the only people who are actively and productively pursuing a strategy. They’re doing God’s work.
