THE RUMBLE IN RAFAEL: The Marin I-J reports that the race for second place got a bit toasty at a debate in San Rafael last night, with Lawson rivals Susan Adams and Norman Solomon bringing out the bludgeons in an effort to knock the New Agey businesswoman off her pedestal.
Solomon, the I-J says, specifically went after Lawson’s abysmal voting record, challenging the candidate directly: “[Y]ou didn’t vote two-thirds of a dozen key elections where human rights and economic issues were involved,” he said.
The Adams team, meanwhile, unearthed a bit of dirt aimed at Lawson’s much-touted job-creating mojo. It seems that she was for a time chairman of the board of a company that manufactured women’s fashion accessories that did all its manufacturing in China, and anyway ended up flaming out in an ugly bankruptcy.
