Agate Beach just got more remote.

You can still access it from Big Lagoon County Park, but it’s about 1.8 miles from that parking lot to where the Agate trail spits out. Hopefully nobody’s foolish enough to attempt a freestyle descent down the bluff.

From the California State Parks:

“The Agate Beach trail starts at the north end of Patrick’s Point State Park coming off the Agate Beach campground and day use area and leads to Agate Beach. Due to a failure caused by the winter storms, California State Parks has closed the trail for safety reasons.

“Preliminary review indicates that the trial will be closed for six months to a year while the realignment is determined and repairs can be completed. In the meantime there is no access to Agate Beach.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this will cause the public.”
