Humboldt Co. Sheriff Press Release:
On 08-8-2012, approximately 11:00 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call
regarding three men detaining a burglary suspect in the center median of US 101, near Bracutt. When deputies arrived, they met with the men who had detained Lloyd Velazquez, 25 years old, from Eureka.
The men told the deputies they had leased property at Bracutt. They were upstairs working in the main building when they saw a Velazquez walking out of the bottom floor with one of the men’s backpacks on. They ran outside to confront Velazquez and he fled. They chased after him. During the chase Velazquez dropped the backpack. They three men caught Velazquez in the center median of US 101 about a quarter of a mile south of Bracutt Industrial Park. They removed his shoes so he could not run anymore and detained him until deputies arrived.
The stolen backpack contained one of the men’s lap top computer. The stolen property was returned to the victim. Deputies took custody of Velazquez who was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of state
parole. He is being held without bail.
