Just a couple of years ago he sat in his Eureka storefront as lowly head of Humboldt Baykeeper. Then he was named western regional director of the Waterkeeper Alliance, Humboldt Baykeeper’s parent organization.
Now comes news, via the National Journal, that Pete Nichols, former Coast Guardie and current Alec Baldwin bestie, has taken on the top national job in the powerful environmental group founded by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
(Full disclosure: He may be a hotshot in the nonprofit environmental advocacy world — people have their opinions — but Nichols sucks at poker and is congenitally unable to wrap his head around Texas Hold ‘Em.)
