Caltran’s Press Release:
Caltrans has announced the start of a paving project on Route 101 south of Eureka beginning Sunday, July 8 from one mile south of the Tomkins Hill interchange to just north of the Herrick Avenue interchange.
The northbound Tomkins Hill offramp (Exit 698) will be closed from 8 p.m., Sunday, July 8 to 8 a.m., Monday, July 9. The northbound Humboldt Hill offramp (Exit 701) will be closed from 8 p.m., Monday, July 9 to 8 a.m., Tuesday, July 10. The northbound Herrick Avenue offramp (Exit 702) will be closed from 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 10 to 8 a.m., Wednesday, July 11. At each exit listed, there will be a full nighttime closure of both the northbound offramp and the southbound onramp, and motorists are advised to use an alternate route.
Beginning Thursday, July 12, daytime work hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekdays. Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.
There will be intermittent daytime northbound ramp closures beginning the week of Monday, July 16 during paving near Tompkins Hill Road, Fields Landing, King Salmon, Humboldt Hill, and Herrick Avenue. Motorists will be advised to use an alternate route.
